                                                                                                                          Mikyska Family

This is a photo of Vincent Mikyska. He ran the Mikyska Store (Photo in book)

This is my dad, Dick Mikyska. He had the bar in his basement called the Beroun Saloon. He was also the Milkman in town for 30 some years.

These are the Mikyska children; minus the last born, Al. Rose was the oldest, followed by Lydia, then Joe, Anne and Mary. Lydia was married to Louis Chalupsky and ran the post office in Beroun. Anne was my grandma and her son Dick Mikyska delivered milk for Land O' Lakes and had the bar in his basement called the Beroun Saloon. Photo is in the book. Al died in 1965 when he was hit by a train in Beroun while driving a dump truck. The children's mother Anna died shortly after Al was born. The picture of the embroidery below was hers.

I am the fourth generation to have grown up in Beroun. Vincent Mikyska raised his children in Beroun. They lived in the Mikyska store. My father lived with him in the store also for a time, and then he lived with his mother, Anne, and Grandpa in the house that is just to the west of mine. My dad married Barb (Miller) who also grew up in Beroun. Both of their houses can be seen on the page titled Photo Gallery. They built their house just south of the cemetary, and that is where the bar was located. When I got married to the neighbor, we moved just up the road where I raised all three of my childern. So my children are fifth generation decendents of this little town of Beroun. It was a wonderful place to raise a family. Just about all of the neighbors were related to each other in some way or the other. My husband was also fourth generation decendent, so my children's roots run about as deep as they can get. His Great Grandpa Skalicky's house is on the page titled Early Farms. His other Great Grandparents were Jan (John) and Mary Chalupnik.

The photo and items below belong to the collection of Joe Mikyska.

My parents moved this year, 2017, after 46 years in their house in Beroun. My daughter received a few items from them and this embroidery was one of them.  She asked me who Annie Skalicky was. It would have been her great, great grandma. Her obituary is below.

This is the Joe and Matilda Skalicky family. Anna is the fourth one from right in the back. She married Vincent Mikyska and died after her 6th child was born. She was my great grandmother.
